Café Matcha: Reviews & Ratings
I will give credit or credit is due. This was a great Matcha drink (it’s noting like the Alfred cafes in a good way). It wasn’t super matcha forward. It was more of a balanced Matcha. I think this is due to them making the decision of this is the Matcha I want to give to people and not always pleasing the customer with larger sizes, etc. so the ratios were perfect. It’s great that it has parking. That’s a huge plus these days. My only thing I think they need to change as they need almond milk specifically unsweetened for those like they care about keto, etc.. soy it feels really weird in 2025.
Love the atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the matcha latte hot, sugar aside (always!). Ridiculous to pay $6 on a toast with butter and jam, but you can upgrade it for a matcha jam. And the matcha jam is incredible! It comes in the waffle. I wish they would sell the matcha jam separately. Btw, disappointed with the lack of matcha pastries, absolutely zero. How come? But will come back and I will keep asking for them.
PURE GOODNESS!!! The matcha is fantastic and brought me right back to Japan. The pastries are so all so unique and flavorful with a Japanese twist, giving even the sweetest desserts a savory edge. Loved the miso carrot danish and the waffles with matcha jam Just go, you won’t be disappointed!
Best matcha drink I've ever had in my life!! Truly thought I would never be a matcha girly but Cafe Matcha proved me wrong. Sarah was so helpful suggesting a drink that I might like based on my taste, and I was surprised and delighted by how unbelievably delicious the "green & black" (matcha + cold brew) combo came out!!! I got the pistachio milk instead of half & half and it was divine. In addition to our drinks, which my cousin and I loved, the pastries we tried were also out of this world. The space is colorful, light, and fun, & the music was fab as the backdrop to our experience. 100/10, we already can't wait to come back!
Imagine this: Tall chilled glass. Half cloudy, pale yellow lemonade. Half vibrant organic ceremonial jade-green matcha. Fine crushed ice all the way through, sweating on the outside of the glass. Taste • First sip is bright, zesty lemon — almost like a good homemade nimbu pani, but cleaner and colder. • A split second later, the matcha kicks in: smooth, gently grassy, a tiny hint of earthiness and umami. • The sweetness is there, but light: just enough honey or simple syrup to round off the sharpness of the lemon without making it sugary. • There’s a soft, almost creamy body from the whisked matcha, so it doesn’t taste like two drinks mixed together, more like one layered, complex sip. Texture & Aroma • You get that tiny matcha foam on top, smelling fresh like a rainy morning. • The lemonade brings micro-bubbles and a slight tingle on your tongue if it’s made with sparkling water. • Every sip is icy but not watery, because the drink is slightly concentrated to balance the melting ice.
This cute new trendy place brings the centuries old tradition of matcha into the 21 century. Great drinks and food, cute atmosphere, and priced pretty reasonably. They had traditional matcha drinks plus new ones with a lot more flare. Would recommend!
Really cute new spot, great quality matcha, the cooler was my favorite. The pastries look and smell amazing, definitely going back for those. The staff was friendly and quick. Very cute aesthetic, loved the atmosphere!
Look at my beautiful matcha latte! Equally delicious. Would love a vegan snack to go with it. Hopefully they can add one to the menu.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Studio City, Café Matcha offers an authentic and artful exploration of matcha that sets it apart from ordinary cafés. From the moment you step inside this bright and inviting space, you’re met with an atmosphere that is both lively and welcoming, a perfect backdrop for their carefully crafted beverages and unique pastries.
What truly distinguishes Café Matcha is its devotion to balance and quality in their signature drinks. As reflected in the experience of patrons like Elias Atalah, their matcha drinks avoid being overly intense or one-dimensional. The matcha flavor is measured, refined—carefully calibrated to present a smooth, approachable taste that invites both matcha novices and connoisseurs to savor each sip without overwhelm. This philosophy shines through in creations like the “green & black,” where the vibrant earthiness of ceremonial-grade matcha seamlessly integrates with the boldness of cold brew coffee, elevated by creamy pistachio milk. It’s a combination that surprises and delights, redefining what a matcha drink can be.
The menu doesn't stop at drinks. Café Matcha impresses with its pastries, which bring a distinctive Japanese twist to classic bakery fare. The miso carrot danish and waffles adorned with their signature matcha jam showcase an inventive balance of sweet and savory, infusing traditional flavors with subtle umami notes. The matcha jam itself is a revelation—rich, vivid, and uniquely satisfying, adding depth whether spread or enveloped in a waffle. Such thoughtful flavor layering marks the kitchen’s commitment to authenticity and innovation.
One of the most enchanting offerings is the matcha lemonade, a sensory delight described vividly by Mayank Dayal—a bright, zesty fusion of fresh citrus and jade-green matcha. The drink’s texture and aroma mimic a serene rainy morning, capturing freshness in every icy, creamy sip. This blend highlights the café’s expertise in balancing complex flavors with careful precision—never too sweet, always fresh and nuanced.
Beyond the products, Café Matcha’s commitment to customer experience is clear. Friendly, knowledgeable staff guide guests through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, catering to varied dietary preferences and ensuring each visit feels personalized. Though some patrons note the absence of matcha pastries in larger variety, the existing offerings are so thoughtfully executed that they cultivate anticipation for what might come next.
Parking availability is a practical yet significant boon for an urban setting, making this gem all the more accessible. Whether you’re seeking a refined matcha latte or a thoughtfully composed pastry with a Japanese flair, Café Matcha delivers with elegance, balance, and heart. For those who appreciate nuance in flavor and a welcoming café vibe, it’s an unmissable destination that promises more than just a drink—an experience steeped in tradition and contemporary creativity.
